Fire Temple (Ateshgah) – The Temple of Eternal Flame
Located on the outskirts of Baku, Ateshgah is a 17th-century fire-worshipping temple built by Indian and Persian Zoroastrians. This pentagonal complex was once a sacred site where natural gas flames burned continuously from the earth. Today, it’s a museum that showcases ancient fire rituals, Zoroastrian beliefs, and the multicultural history of the region.

Fire Mountain (Yanar Dağ) – The Burning Hill
Yanar Dağ, meaning “Burning Mountain,” is a rare natural phenomenon where flames blaze from the hillside due to underground gas seepage. This eternal fire has been burning for centuries and continues to fascinate visitors with its mysterious glow—especially beautiful at dusk. It’s a must-see example of why Azerbaijan is known as the “Land of Fire.”
